What Is Paint Correction (and Why It Comes Before Coating)?
Coatings lock in whatever is underneath. Paint correction makes sure what is underneath is perfect.
Paint correction is the process of machine-polishing a car's clear coat to remove defects.
What it removes
- Swirl marks from poor washing
- Light scratches and marring
- Holograms from previous bad polishing
- Oxidation and dullness
Stages
- Enhancement (single stage): big improvement in gloss, removes light defects
- Multi-stage correction: compounding then refining for near-flawless finishes
Why it matters before ceramic
A ceramic coating is clear and long-lasting — so it seals in whatever is underneath. Correcting first means you seal in perfection, not swirls.
Every DMS coating package includes proper preparation. See ceramic & PPF services.
